sticky rice

yes, the rice was indeed sticky

my only regret is that i didn’t get the pad thai, so while you’re reading about my lovely experience about sticky rice, please know that if you take away anything from this little blurb, get the fucking pad thai. anyway, i have been a thai lover for years. creamy yellow curry and a pad thai combo just does not compare to anything... until i found sticky rice
first off, for all my LA babies out there, you’re in luck. sticky rice not only has their location in echo park, but they have a few across LA. although, i’m talking specifically about the echo park location.
i am ashamed of my lack of photos because the atmosphere and decoration was so cute and wierdly ironic? the indiana jones poster in thai that was placed behind our table really set the mood. i was there with some friends of mine and we all agreed that the interior designer needed awards. other than the posters the space had adorable lighting fixtures that cast a cool blue glow on the interior of the restaurant.  the space was also intimate and perfect for a dinner with friends, which really helped in this case of dinner with friends.

my “medium” green curry

any time i dine out with foodies like myself there is always the question “alright, what are we sharing?’. so, we started off with the crispy tofu, and i still to this day do not understand how something so bland as tofu can turn into something so wonderful when it’s coated in breading and paired with a spicy sweet sauce.
not to mention the breading was gluten free which made my gluten intolerant heart soar to the ceiling. 10/10 will be getting again.
for the meal, i got the green curry with chicken at medium a spice level. my one regret is i should have done the mild. look, im not one to be a little bitch when it comes down to spicy food, i LOVE a good kick to my taste buds, but goddamn my mouth was on fire. the curry was quite literally hot and i burned my mouth multiple times due to impatience.
now, here’s how i know about how ridiculous the pad thai is. one of the friends i was with had been to sticky rice before and made the same mistake i did by not ordering the pad thai. i knew she was ordering it so in my mind i’m thinking “ok i’ll be able to manage with just one bite  right? how good can a pad thai be?”. good did not cover the flavors of that pad thai. if i were eating standing up i would have fallen to the floor.
so i learned a few things from my trip to sticky rice; one, i dont think i could live without it in my life at least once a month. two,  wish i could say patience but i’m still working on that one. three, i need to get the fucking pad thai.
